Webb Optometrists use the Mid North Coast optical laboratory, Hastings
Optical, for the supply of lenses used in their practices.
Hastings Optical invested heavily installing their own lens surfacing
laboratory based in Port Macquarie. Imported from the USA, the equipment
allows for the thinnest and lightest lens production possible. Much of
the lens generation is computer controlled over three axis of movement.
The lens is cut instead of being ground by the older cup-shaped grinding
wheels and therefore is now free from elliptical error. The lens surfacing
laboratory was the first in Australia to use the vacuum-suction method.
Hastings Optical provides facilities and expertise capable of producing
the many types of lenses used in the market. By using Hastings Optical,
Baker Payne Webb has complete control of accuracy and services when supplying
their patients with lenses. Some emergency spectacles can be supplied
on the day requested. |
