Our Team

Our Optometrists are leaders in their field. To provide quality service we ensure that our Optometrists are up-to-date with the latest advancements in ocular science and technology. This is our commitment to you – our current and future patients.

Many of our Optometrist have 20 – 30 years of experience. Some are also therapeutically qualified, which means they can write prescriptions for common eye conditions such as dry eye and conjunctivitis.

Max Webb, Optometrist MOptom (UNSW)

Max moved to Port Macquarie from Sydney and joined the Partnership in 1984. He and his wife Catherine have raised their family of 4 boys in Port Macquarie and during that time Max gained his Master of Optometry. Max oversees the smooth running of all the practices on the Mid North Coast and Hornsby and the In-house Optical Laboratory, Hastings Optical Supplies. He consults in the following branches: Port Macquarie: Lighthouse Plaza and Wauchope.

Bill Payne, Partner, Optometrist BOptom (UNSW)

Bill has been a Partner in Baker Payne Webb, Optometrists for 30 years, the last 22 years in the Manning Mall, Taree. He is married with three adult children.

Chris Baker – Optometrist BOptom (UNSW)

Chris is a semi-retired ex-partner of Baker Payne Webb and currently consults 2 days a week. He has lived in the Hastings region for decades and enjoys golf on his days off.

Heath Morgan – Optometrist BOptom (UNSW)

Heath has been an Optometrist with Baker Payne Webb for the past two years. Originally from Port Macquarie he is a graduate of UNSW and currently undertaking further studies in Ocular Therapeutics and Behavioural Optometry. He has a keen interest in visual training and learning difficulty patients. He consults in the following branches: Port Macquarie; Lighthouse Plaza; Wauchope.

Jenna Owen – Optometrist BOptom (Hons) BSci ( VisSci) (UNSW)

Jenna joined BPW in January 2011. She grew up in the country town of Albert, near Dubbo. She graduated from UNSW with Bachelor of Optometry/Bachelor of Science with Ocular Therapeutic Endorsement. Jenna is a keen golfer and enjoys many other sports. She has a special interest in eye disease and Indigenous Health and was featured in the June 2011 Women’s Weekly. Jenna contuls in the following branches: Port Macquarie; Lighthouse Plaza; Wauchope

Naomi Keast – Optometrist BOptom (UNSW)

Naomi has been an Optometrist for 20 years after graduating from UNSW. Naomi has been part of the BPW team since the establishment of the Kempsey practice 17 years ago and loves the on-going continuity and contact with all of her patients and their families. “Being part of this large community from the beaches to the bush is very rewarding. We have such a diverse practice ranging from children, teens, the elderly and those people whose arms are ‘not quite long enough’.” Naomi loves the Kempsey area and is an integral part of the health care professionals servicing the Macleay Valley.

Natasha Barnard-French – Behavioural Optometrist BOptom (UNSW) MSc (Optom) FACBO

Natasha completed her optometry degree with honours in 1993 and went on to complete a research masters in vision development and learning in 1995. This interest in childrens’ vision led to a fellowship in Behavioural Optometry in 2003 and working in specialty behavioural practices in Perth for 10 years.
With parents living in Laurieton and two young girls enjoying all the area has to offer she has happily settled back on the east coast and is keen to continue providing specialty behavioural vision care to adults and children alike.

John Granata BOptom (UNSW)

John has been with Granata Eyecare since he the took over the practice in 1974. John has a genuine passion for providing quality eye care for his patients. John has an extremely loyal patient base, many of whom he has looked after for over 30 years. John’s interests in optometry include low vision and disease management. John can fluently speak Italian.

Joshua Clark BOptom (Hons)

Josh has been at the Hornsby practice for 3 years and he has passion for quality eye care. His main interests
include:

  • Contact lenses
  • Disease prevention and management
  • Orthokeratology (night time contact lenses)
  • Sunglasses

Josh is up-to-date with the newest contact lens
advancements, which include multifocal contact lenses and contact lenses for
astigmatism.

Josh performs orthokeratology, which involves wearing
hard contact lenses at night time to provide clear vision throughout the day.
Orthokeratology is proven to slow down the rate of short-sightedness progression
in teenage patients. Feel free to call him today on 94771711 to have a talk
about this technology.

In his spare time Josh loves watching and playing sport.
He is a keen golfer and a member at Pennant Hills Golf Club. He would also love
to play more soccer and tennis!

Josh works Mon-Tues and Thurs-Saturday.

Amanda Lea – BOptom (Hons)

Amanda’s passion for optometry comes from the difference it makes in people’s lives. Amanda has been practising since 2002, and joined our Hornsby practice in 2011, working Wednesdays and some Saturdays.

Amanda has a strong focus on providing holistic eye care and achieving the best possible vision for each patient. She also has extensive experience fitting contact lenses, including hard lenses for distorted corneas, e.g. keratoconus.

When not at the practice, Amanda spends her time looking after her young son and making representations for the optometry profession in the Sydney Morning Herald’s Column 8.
